MiniCourse in SPSS 6-30 to 8-20pm June 13, 16, 20, 23 PH-202 This course is open only to students enrolled in the MA program in Applied Social Research. This course assumes that students have mastered either STATA or SAS and the fundamentals of bivariable and multivariable statistical analysis. The course will be taught as a hands-on practicuum in which students will learn how to use SPSS for statistical analyses of the sort taught in Soc 710, 712, 755. Students will use their own PCs to run SPSS using remote desktop to access QC servers. Instructions can be found in Attachments below. The class will use the 2010 General Social Survey Dataset which is attached below. Students should load this dataset on their P drive at QC. (It may also be available on the Sociology Department's PUBLIC share -- usually drive S.) A list of the variables in this dataset and a codebook are also attached. |
